Trivia[]

  • The title of this episode is pun using the 1977 Top 40 hit by Steely Dan, "Deacon Blues," playing off the trouble Deacon gets into in this episode.

Goofs[]

Continuity
  • When Doug and Deacon are outside, Carrie comes out to talk to them. She quickly goes back in saying she's cold and clearly shuts the door behind her. When Doug and Deacon go back inside, the door is wide open.;Crew or equipment visible
  • When Deacon and Kelly leave Doug and Carrie's house, in one closeup shot of Doug seated on the couch, a shadow, light flickering, and a shoe can be seen briefly on the stairs in the background. Arthur isn't in the scene at all, so it must belong to a crew member.
Factual errors
  • Doug claims to have bought his boots at Thom McAn's because they were on sale, however Thom McAn's closed its last store in 1996, five years before Doug made his purchase.
Plot holes
  • When Deacon gets thrown out by Kelly and he comes over to the Heffernan's, he stated it was hard to get a cab in New York as a black guy with no shoes. A few moments later, he asks Doug to borrow money because Kelly threw him out without his wallet. How would Deacon get to the house in a cab with no wallet?

Scene excerpt from "Deacon Blues"[]

Quotes

  • Arthur: So I looked her square in the eye and said, "Ma'am, you are undoubtedly the most fetching woman in all of Shreveport"
  • Kelly: [laughs] Then what did she say?
  • Arthur: My good sir, I do believe you are giving me the vapors.
  • Kelly: [laughs] Nice. Then what happened?
  • Arthur: I knocked the barbeque out of her hand, bent her over the porch railing and said, "I'll give you more than vapors, you nasty..."
  • Carrie: Ok! Enough! Charming story gone very wrong.
  • Deacon: Look you cannot tell anyone about this! Especially Kelly
