    About Doug[]

Doug is Carrie's boss in Kaplan, Hornstein & Steckler. Doug has a good working relationship with Carrie and the other assistants in the office. Doug leaves to join another firm in Season 6 in the episode "Eggsit Strategy" (#8), as Carrie winds up suddenly out of a job, as their superior, Mr. Kaplan, who's a partner in the firm,(played by Victor Raider-Wexler, who also plays Mr. Kaufman, who's a partner in the firm which she later becomes employed at, in Season 7).

In an embarrassing situation, in the Season 2 episode "Big Dougie" (#21), Doug gets egg on his face after Carrie, whom he was on the phone with while he was flying back into New York City from a business trip, accidentally says "I love you" to him after he called to ask about a document that needed to be notarized.

When Carrie later mentioned to him that she has a husband also named Doug, which caused her to say "I love you" out of force of habit, she said it was like saying Like "hachoo" and "God bless you", saying "They're a team". Doug admits it took him off guard, as he says to her "Well, I was on the plane and you said that, and I was like, "Where'd that come from?" as he then tells her "Yeah, that is funny. Guess I shouldn't have dumped my fiancee and gotten us Springsteen tickets", as he then shows her the tickets. Now embarrased at the misunderstanding, he then quickly says "gotta make a phone call!", as he rushes from the office to return the concert tickets.

In the Season 3 episode "Work Related" (#10) when Doug, who was aiming to launch a senior jobs program to, as he says "give the old people a sense of purpose" (the jobs only pay $3.50), mentions a permanent job offer to Carrie for Arthur, who had been working in the office as a temp, he tells Carrie that Arthur is "a really good guy"; when Arthur suddenly decides to quit, he claims to Carrie that he was fired by a Boss Terwilliger, as Mr. Pruzan, who said that Arthur had simply approached him and told him "I Quit!" and Carrie both know that there was no Boss Terwilliger in the firm.
