Gary Valentine (born Gary Joseph Knipfing November 22, 1961) is the older brother of Kevin James and plays Doug Heffernan's cousin, Danny. Like his brother, he writes episodes for the show, sometimes together. One of these are Crappy Birthday.

Personal life[]
Valentine was born Gary Joseph Knipfing in Mineola, New York,[1][2] to Janet, who had worked in a chiropractor's office, and Joseph Valentine Knipfing, Jr., who owned an insurance agency.[2][3] He is of German and Greek descent.[4] Valentine has two siblings: Kevin George Knipfing, known as Kevin James, an actor and comedian, and Leslie Knipfing.[5] Gary and his siblings were raised in the Catholic faith.[6]
Career[]
Gary first got his start in show business on the stand up comedy stage. After an appearance at the Montreal Comedy Festival, he left his native New York for heavier traffic in Los Angeles. There, he quickly landed spots on various talk shows including, CBS-TV's late night series The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, TBS's Late Night with Conan O'Brien and NBC-TV's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, among others. He has been headlining comedy clubs and theaters for the past fifteen years.
He is best known for his nine seasons as “Cousin Danny” on the hit CBS sitcom, The King of Queens. Elsewhere on the small screen, he notably appeared on the TBS television show Men of a Certain Age, which was written and directed by Ray Romano, and met with critical acclaim. Prior to his run on the series, he starred in his own half hour special on Comedy Central along with hosting The X Show on FX.
On the big screen, Gary has worked alongside such Hollywood heavyweights as Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear (Stuck on You, 2003), and Adam Sandler (I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, 2007). In addition to a number of specials for the Comedy Central Network, as well as a cameo in Jerry Seinfeld's lauded documentary, Comedian, he can be seen in such films as Paul Blart: Mall Cop (2009), Zookeeper (2011), and Poolboy: Drowning Out the Fury, along with the independent short Alive N' Kickin' (2011).
More recently, he makes occasional appearances as a round table comedian on the popular E! Network late-night talk show Chelsea Lately, and also takes part in the Dusty Peacock web series on Crackle.
In 2016 he recently played as Kyle Gable in CBS sitcom Kevin Can Wait.
