Synopsis[]

Doug and Carrie rush to a friend's wedding before the bride and groom realize they're not there; Meanwhile, Arthur plans a scheme involving Spence.

Storyline[]

Instead of driving out of state, to Maryland for their friends' wedding, Carrie and Doug decide to stay home and later tell the couple that they were there, but did not see them. They soon began to feel guilty and go to the wedding anyway, arriving just as the couple are leaving. Meanwhile, Arthur gets Spencer to participate in his scheme to get half-off shoes for sons and dads.

Did You Know?[]

Goofs[]

Factual errors
  • Arthur and the shoe salesman reveal that they are WWII army vets, Arthur with the 71st Infantry Division and the salesman with the 29th. The salesman correctly stated that the 29th started action in D-Day but teases Arthur that they cleared the way for the 71st. In fact, the two divisions were never in the same corps. The 71st arrived in Europe in February 1945 and fought in southern Germany/Austria while the 29th at that time fought in central Germany.

Connections[]

Spoofs
  • The Courtship of Eddie's Father (1969-74 ABC-TV series) - In the final scene of this episode, Arthur and Spence are seen walking along the beach and having fun, while the song "(People, Let Me Tell You About My) Best Friend" plays. This scene is a spoof of the iconic opening montage in The Courtship of Eddie's Father TV series, for which "Best Friend" is the theme song.

Soundtracks[]

Soundtrack credits
